Thermoplastic rubber hoses are widely used in industrial, construction, and civil applications due to their excellent weather resistance, flexibility, and chemical corrosion resistance. To ensure construction quality, safety, and service life, relevant construction standards must be strictly followed. This article systematically elaborates on the construction standard requirements for thermoplastic rubber hoses from aspects such as material selection, construction preparation, installation specifications, inspection, and acceptance.

Material Selection and Inspection

1. Material Standards
Thermoplastic rubber hoses should comply with relevant national or industry standards, such as GB/T 18997 "Aluminum-Plastic Composite Pressure Pipes" and ASTM D2518 "Thermoplastic Rubber Hoses and Hose Assemblies." Materials must be accompanied by a factory certificate of conformity and test report, clearly indicating specifications, model, pressure rating, and applicable environmental conditions.

2. Visual Inspection
Before construction, the hoses should be visually inspected to ensure there are no defects such as bubbles, cracks, dents, or impurities. The pipe wall thickness should be uniform, the color consistent, and the ends should be neatly cut without burrs.

3. Performance Testing
If necessary, sampling can be conducted for physical performance testing, including tensile strength, elongation at break, pressure resistance, temperature resistance, and resistance to chemical corrosion, to ensure compliance with design requirements.

Construction Preparation

1. Environmental Requirements
The ambient temperature for construction should be between -10℃ and 60℃. Avoid operation in rain, snow, strong winds, or extreme temperature conditions. If the ambient humidity is high, moisture-proof measures should be taken to prevent the pipes from becoming damp and affecting their performance.

2. Tools and Equipment
Required tools include pipe cutters, flaring tools, a hot-melt machine (suitable for hot-melt connections), sealant, and cleaning agents. Ensure that the tools are in good condition and meet the pipe connection requirements.

3. Personnel Requirements
Construction personnel should be professionally trained, familiar with the characteristics of thermoplastic rubber pipes and construction processes, and possess the corresponding operating qualifications to ensure a standardized and safe construction process.

Installation Specifications

1. Pipeline Layout
Thermoplastic rubber pipes should avoid direct contact with sharp objects, high-temperature heat sources, or corrosive substances. 1. Pipeline Laying: Pipelines should be laid straight. Dedicated elbows or large-radius bends should be used at bends to avoid forced bending that could damage the pipes.

2. Connection Methods: Depending on pipe specifications and the operating environment, crimping, flaring, heat fusion, or compression connections can be used. Connections should be secure, sealed, and leak-free. For heat fusion connections, heating temperature and time must be controlled to ensure sufficient fusion. For compression connections, matching compression nuts and fittings should be used, and tightening torque should meet the manufacturer's requirements.

3. Support and Fixing: Pipelines should be equipped with appropriate support points, with a spacing not exceeding 1.5 meters to prevent deformation or detachment due to weight or external forces. Fixed supports should be insulated with flexible materials (such as rubber pads) to prevent metal supports from directly compressing the pipes.

4. Pressure Testing: After installation, a pressure test must be performed. The test pressure should be 1.5 times the working pressure, but not lower than 0.6 MPa. The pressure stabilization time should be no less than 30 minutes. No leakage or pressure drop indicates (qualified).

Inspection and Acceptance

1. Visual Inspection: Check if the pipe installation is straight, the connections are secure, the markings are clear, and the supports are properly fixed.

2. Functional Testing: In addition to pressure testing, a water (or gas) flow test is required to ensure there are no blockages, no abnormal resistance, and the system is operating normally.

3. Documentation: After construction is completed, construction records, material testing reports, pressure test data, and other relevant documents should be compiled and submitted as the basis for project acceptance.

Maintenance and Care: Thermoplastic rubber pipes should be inspected regularly during use, paying particular attention to whether the connections are loose and whether the pipe walls are aging or damaged. When exposed to ultraviolet light or chemical media for extended periods, protective measures should be taken, such as covering with a sunshade or anti-corrosion coating, to extend their service life.

The construction quality of thermoplastic rubber pipes directly affects their performance and safety. Strict adherence to construction standards, from material selection and installation specifications to inspection and acceptance, is essential to ensure the long-term stable operation of the pipeline system. Construction units should strengthen technical training and improve construction standardization to guarantee project quality.
