Nylon tubes, a high-performance plastic tubing widely used in the automotive, machinery, and chemical industries, have a manufacturing process whose rigor and technical sophistication directly impact product quality and performance. The production of nylon tubes mainly involves key steps such as raw material preparation, extrusion molding, cooling and shaping, traction cutting, and inspection and packaging. Each stage requires strict control to ensure the finished product meets standards.
Raw material preparation is the first step in production. Nylon tubes typically use PA6 (Nylon 6) or PA66 (Nylon 66) as the main raw material, with plasticizers, stabilizers, or flame retardants added according to application requirements. The raw material must be dried to remove moisture, preventing air bubbles or degradation during extrusion and ensuring material flowability and stability.
Extrusion molding is the core process. The dried raw material is heated and melted using a screw extruder. Under high temperature (typically 240-280℃) and pressure, the melt is pushed into the die. The die design directly affects the accuracy of the tube's outer diameter, wall thickness, and inner diameter; therefore, it must be precisely adjusted according to specifications. Molten nylon forms a continuous tubular structure in a mold and then enters a cooling system.
Cooling and shaping are achieved using water or air cooling to rapidly solidify the high-temperature melt. Water cooling tanks are the most common method, using stepped water temperature control to prevent internal stress caused by rapid cooling, which could affect mechanical properties. The cooled nylon tube must maintain stable dimensions to lay the foundation for subsequent processing.
In the traction and cutting stage, the tube is pulled out at a constant speed by a traction machine to ensure uniform length. The traction force must match the extrusion speed to prevent deformation or breakage. Subsequently, the tube is precisely cut to the set length by a cutting machine, requiring a smooth, burr-free cut.
Finally, the finished product undergoes rigorous inspection, including visual inspection (smoothness, no bubbles), dimensional measurement (outer diameter, wall thickness tolerance), and performance testing (pressure resistance, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance). Qualified products are packaged and stored to ensure they are not damaged during transportation.
The production process of nylon tubes integrates materials science, mechanical engineering, and quality control technology. Meticulous management of each step is key to ensuring its high performance and long lifespan.
